The Hanged Man
The Major Arkana card, marked with number twelve.
The Hangman Tarot Card is marked with the number twelve and refers to the sign of Pisces and the twelfth house of astrology, which is responsible for all that is hidden: secrets, fears and secrets from the past. The card shows a man hanging head down, hands tied behind his back. His foot is tied to a cross beam that resembles the beam of a cross. The man’s other, free leg is bent at a right angle at the knee, which also gives his body the shape of a cross. This shape is associated with sacrifice and suffering. Nevertheless, the face of the hanging head downwards expresses a gentle calm. He seems to be contemplating the sight that appeared to his eyes because of his present situation. Around the hangman’s head shines a luminous nimbus that can symbolize enlightenment. It is not difficult to find symbolism related to early Christianity on the card. It is worth remembering that Saint Peter was crucified upside down at his own request because he did not want the way he would die to be the same as the way Christ died.
The Hangman Tarot Card carries several meanings which may vary depending on the accompanying schedule. First of all, the card speaks of the need to see what has been hidden from us until now. The charter suggests that only by looking at a matter from a completely different perspective can we find a successful solution. It is possible that there is a secret that will come to light after a while. The rope on the Hanged Man’s foot and hand may unfortunately suggest that we have fallen victim to skillful manipulation or that we have been lied to. Our passive attitude and excessive credulity contributed to this. It is also very possible that we ourselves are to blame for our current situation. The card suggests that there is something (or someone) that we have previously turned a blind eye to or that we did not want to notice at all. Perhaps in some situation we were just passive spectators, when our reaction would be a much better solution. The Hangman’s Card in a negative sense speaks of passivity, instability of character, inactivity, stagnation and loss of control. At the same time, it suggests that the difficult situation we are in may contribute to our spiritual growth. This is why the man on the card appears calm and his face radiates a glow.
Another meaning of the Hangman card is voluntary sacrifice in the name of higher values. In this context, this card speaks of a profound internal transformation that will allow you to see the world from a completely different perspective. Contact with our own or others’ suffering allows us to deeply appreciate everyday happiness that we often fail to perceive. Deep voluntary commitment, such as caring for a sick family member, may require a lot of energy and time.
In relation to time, the Hangman’s Card foreshadows delays, downtime and stuck decisions. In such situations, it is worth remembering that not everything depends on us. Sometimes the card speaks of top-down restrictions that we simply have to submit to, whether we feel like it or not.
Change Your perspective to change Your life.
There are two kinds of people. Those who do something and those who say they did it. The first group is much less crowded.
The inverted Card places the hanged man in normal position. Reversed Hanged Man is talking about relaxation, composure and forced sacrifice.
Fool card about Feelings
The Hanged Man’s Card is a symbol of sacrifice and sacrifice for the sake of a relationship. It symbolizes altruism, compassion and generosity. Depending on the accompanying cards, the Hangman may indicate the strength of these values or speak of a sacrifice that, unfortunately, is only one-sided.
The Hangman’s Card in questions about an existing relationship may talk about a break in the relationship, about a kind of suspension, about hesitation in making a binding decision, for example about a wedding. The charter also suggests not to idealize your partner and look at him carefully, discarding both his idealized image and any previous prejudices. It says that you should be impartial in assessing the conduct of the other person.
Unfortunately, the Charter sometimes suggests that our potential partner has secrets from us that may be very important from our point of view. The Charter warns against attempts at manipulation and against self-deception.
Card about Health
In a negative aspect, the Hangman’s Card may speak of being involved in addictions, gambling, and obsessions. He warns against the abuse of alcohol or drugs that may distort our perception of the world. It can also talk about hidden depression and health problems related to the nervous system. Sometimes the Hangman suggests the need for recovery, relaxation, a break from work and meditation. It informs you that you should take care of your inner balance.
Tarot Card in Finances
In the work area, the Hangman card identifies a person whose efforts are not appreciated. Our sacrifice goes unnoticed. The card says that we are stuck in a workplace that gives us no satisfaction. It may result from the necessity to provide oneself with material resources on time, but also from a bad sense of duty, from laziness or from comfort.
In a positive aspect, the Hanged Man’s card talks about paying off debts, settling bills and getting rid of loans.
Sometimes, depending on the overall distribution, the Hanged Man’s card indicates prolonged unemployment.
